Civil War in Spain, its most important consequences

INTRODUCTION

I have decided to do this work on this issue because it seems to me that only people who specialize in history or simply are a teacher, it seems to me a rather important issue, since it is one of the most interesting pages in the history of Spain,Not only because of its importance but also because of its insistent current, although it occurred about 70 years ago it is an issue that is currently treated and generates many conflicts such as the separation between left and rights, the exhumation of Franco or indirectly issues such as independence. Apart from all this I am interested because I would like to learn more about this issue, since it seems to me of great relevance to the history of this country. The context of the civil war itself is not very "Sano" in itself, since there was a rather conflicting ideological separation, since it was not a very friendly separation, because it was a separation from one end to another (Republicans and Francoist). During the Civil War there was a series of conflicts such as the persecution of the religious or as the intense poverty (since the Republican side was the government, the Spanish money to fight against the Francoists, all the gold reserves emptied them), and byThe shortage of work and death deaths. Another great consequence of the Spanish Civil War is going to be the economy of Spain in the period of the autarchy that consisted that the country was self-sufficient by itself and that did not want to interact with other countries to trade, or even excluding itself from the Marshall Plan, which stated that the United States gave support to countries that had been affected by wars (World War II or Civil War, although it was priority to countries affected by World War II). Another of the most important consequences that Civil War has left in this country is the political and left -wing political separation and how good some things are to think and the bad ones is to think about, this is judged by a society that does not think for itselfsame and sometimes they are guided by what someone has said in a social network or is what their social environment thinks. This is one of the reasons why I have decided to do this job and see if it also changes me in something. Another of the things that also attracts my attention is the aggressiveness that the Francoist government had that probably if people had not done that would have seen it in a totally different way and even I personally also think that he did things well and other thingsbad, but today’s society only sees bad things. If they ask me that if I would want the dictatorship to come back, I would say that if it would have to change many more things and it would have been less aggressive. Obviously I would not put death sentence or shoot but I think it is necessary a little more hard hand in this country.

Abstract

I will decide to do this work on this subject scholause it sems to me that only people who spect in history or Who are are simply teachers, sems to me a very important topic, since since it is one of the must of interest parts of the history of Spain, Not only Because of its importance but also beset of its insistent reluctant, Although it happened subm 70 years ago, it is a current issue that genes generates many conflicts such as the separation between the left and the right, the exhuration of Franco or indirectly issuesSuch as The Independence Movement. Apart from All This I Am Interested Because I Would Like To Learn More About This Topic, since it sems to me of great relief for the history of this country. The context of the civil War in itself is not see ¨sano¨ in itself, since they are a very conflictive conflictive separation, since it was not a see Friendly separation, Because it was a separation from One end to the other (Republicons and Francoists). During the Civil War there was a series of conflicts Such as the persecution of the religious or the intense poverty (since the republican side was the government took the spanish money to figure against the Francoists, all the gold reserves empteed that), and therefore theShortage of Work and The Deaths by Hunger. ANOTHER GRAAT CONCEVENCE OF THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR WILL BE Spain’s Economy in the PERIF-SIFFICICY, WHICH WAS THAT THE COUNTRY WAS Self-SIFFICIENT BY ITSELF AND THAT IT DID NOT WANT TO INTERACT WITH OTHER COUNTRIES TO TRADMarshall’s Plan., WHICH STATED THAT THE UNITED STATES Gave Support To Countries That Had Been APFFECTED BY WARS. Another of the Most Important Consecquences That Civil War Has Left in This Country is the Political Separation of Right and Left and How Good It is to Think Sub Subhings and How Bad It is To Think Others, This Is Judged by a Society That Does Not Thinkfor itself and summes they are guide by what subsone has said in a social network or is What their social Environment Thinks. This is one of the reasons Why and have decided to do this work and see if Also Changes me into submission. Another Thing That also Catches My Attention is the Aggressiveness That The Francoist Government Had That Probablay If Had Not Done So People Would Have Seen In A Totally Different Way and Even I Personally Also Think That He Did Things Well and Other Things Bad Bad Bad BadSociety Only Sees Bad Things. If they ask me if i wouled like the dictatorship to eat back, i wouled say yes, but i would have to change many more things and i wouled have been lessive. Obviously I Wouled not impose a Death Sentence Nor Shootings, But i do Believe That a Little More Heavy Handedness is needy in This country.

Economic situation after war

After the war there was a remarkable change in the economy and precisely I was not going to go to better, in fact the opposite was a change in the Spanish national and per capita income that begins in 1936 and lasts until the 1950s

This catastrophe caused a series of changes:

  • Eliminated the manufacture of industrial fabrics, which caused a return to the forties with a basically agrarian economy
  • There was a pretty notable housing destruction, around fifty thousand houses, infrastructure.. Which made
  • There was a notable increase in external debt and there were also gold losses by the Spanish National Bank.

Apart from all these changes, the economic contribution that both sides of the war made, since things like food or weapons were not exactly cheap when you had to feed many men, the Republican side took part of gold part of the National Bank to buy weapons, which ended the monetary zone of the Republicans. There was an international isolation that produces an economic regeneration of the country much later. The death of so many men affected a large number of peoples who were affected with such poverty that they died of hunger and also destroying them. The coup side (the Francoists in this case) had to give a lot of money after the conflict and allowed the GermansWorld Cup there was no income towards Spain, as I mentioned before some areas of Spain were devastated as peoples or industrial areas leaving people without work and even killing them, after this Spain will take decades to recover the economy they had before. The economy also took longer to regenerate it was because the Francoist government intended to be self-sufficient.

For some Spaniards these years were simply one of the worst years of their life given to the shortage of food and lack of work, not to mention the lack of energy supplies and the extreme low of wages (up to forty percent), this decline exclusively affected the agricultural sector (the daily day of a man was approximately 7,80 pesetas, which has been 5 cents). The General Directorate of Devastated Regions acted by building a series of buildings in one of the most affected areas of the entire war for war conflicts, now called new houses. Apart from this there was a facet that benefited from all this, the private sector “took advantage” of all this with the recovery of private companies and bankArmy, in summary a great victory for private companies. Poverty was dragged several decades due to isolationism and the Marshall plan that serves as an economic regeneration engine takes a long time to recover. The Marshall Plan is an initiative proposed by the United States of America that tried to regenerate poverty in countries, which consisted of an economic contribution of 13 billion dollars and a reconstruction of buildings in areas.

Another consequence to highlight is the descent to pre -industrial levels of the population’s income level, as well as the decrease in production caused both by the population of the population of the active population and almost the disappearance of the reserves or by thedestruction of railways and roads but also other things such as homes and industrial centers

The national income per capita will not be regenerated as in 1926 until 1950, in the Baltic cornice in the production of steel will decrease 50% compared to COM was in 1929, a decrease in the production of wheat of30% in 1939 compared to in 1935 and in the livestock sector suffers a great impact given to the disappearance of 40% of horse and 25% of other animals such as mules and bovines.

Demographic consequences

There have been very crazy figures in the Spanish Civil War talking about deaths caused by the conflict, including the dead caused by the war front, hunger, epidemics ..

The most accurate numbers of deaths in the civil war is between 700.000 and 1.000.000 (on both sides) of people dead in the time of war and postwar period (regardless of the number of non -born and the loss of the young population). I also know that there were more deaths from revenge than in campaign and the walks take a terrible acceptance. Among all these forts are also included those that people took the opportunity to kill given that the police were in other things, for example, if you owe someone to someone you went down the street with people on your side and you said there are one of the otherside and loaded it, you think or not there are many more cases than you think. The sadness generated by a civil war.

One of the causes of the high number of deaths is caused by republican exile, since during the war the so -called "war new" fled to other countries to save their life, but one of the places where more people fled wasIn the conquest of Catalonia, it is calculated that there were approximately around 450.000 exiles, although a part of those who were returning throughout the dictatorship another large part decided not to return to the country and even waited for the death of the dictator to return to the country in 1975. This exile was a great demographic loss for the country, a population that was young and included one of the most prepared sectors in Spain: "The scientific, literary and artistic elites of the silver age".

Another number of deaths that we have not yet commented that Franco in his term had a series of laws that were rather violent and had the death penalty, this caused approximately 23.000 deaths and there are probably more since these are only to those who have found the body or are registered but there are people who approximate that it killed around 35.000 people.

Returning to the number of total deaths (500.000) 120.000 people died for hunger and diseases, 150.000 were killed by the persecution to which they were submitted by the right -wing government and another 114.000 that it is not known if they fled or died and they approach that 350.000 died in the war itself (on the front).

In the Republican zone, the leaders of their parties, businessmen, well -off and military families affected the clergy. In much of those killed at the beginning of the war for the revenge of the coup d’etat according to the Francoist side, 38 is approaching.000 people.

In the Franco zone favored by the authorities, absolute silence and unregistered documents, the figure of disappeared by historians in the last 20 years, associations have been created to recover historical memory, locate the corpses and common graves. The National Court says that in the Civil War there have been approximately 133.000 (study conducted in 2008).

Social consequences

The civil war was a conflict between two republican and Francoist political classes, which logically made a person from one side to another the person, without knowing her would probably kill her. After the war logically the country tries to recover with the maximum speed as it was before, recovering economic and social hegemony by the part of the industrial and financial landowner oligarchy and on the other hand, all the rights acquired by the workers were given to the workers. Another of the sequelae that left the Spanish civil war was the total breakdown of the total break with cultural traditions, which used to be a great risk of contemporaneity and replaced it with a conception of an anti -liberal and Catholic culture. The Church was strongly persecuted by the Republican side, which automatically caused the Church to put on the side of the Francoists, which later the Franco government will make an economic contribution so that all the churches and centers of the Church were rebuilt. More specifically more than 6000 believers who were on the side of the Republicans were killed in cold blood, which was what automatically drove them to help the Francoists, that they themselves said they supported the national cause.

The Civil War left the people of the lower and a half class stay in the street and without money therefore there were even more than the difference between social classes, the rich that the majority were landowners were the ones who had the ones who hadAll the power of the economy of Franco’s dictatorship, thus making society separate in three sectors: the extremely poor, the poor and the rich (the latter sector was minimal). On the other hand, the principle of the dictatorship meant the total prohibition of all unions and workers’ parties so that they lost all rights.

Homosexuality after war. The law of vague and thugs was a criminal law approved by the Courts of the Second Republic on August 4, 1936 to treat vagrants, pimps and other behaviors not approved, subsequently the law was modified during the Franco dictatorship. The creation of this rule was due to the fact that the threat against Francoism was reduced and decidedwith more hardness than to beggars and pimps. In 1970 this law is overthrown.

With the introduction of social insurance and with augmented stability to preserve the work, the social situation was intended to improve, although union freedoms continued to deny and repressing any type of claim and in such a way that the Spaniards were denied any kindof political freedom. In the fifties there was no remarkable improvement with the disastrous decade of the forties, but there were still a number of problems that led the country to bankruptcy, which will do to the Government to reconsider and make a change in the Francoist economyIn fact, to carry out such an operation, one of the most renovating things of the dictatorship was carried out, the 1959 stabilization plan, with which an economic policy focused abroad and modernization began, which is one of the things thatmarks the sixties of this country. This movement to a large part of the Republicans will please them in even some will go to the other side. This also calms the goose tension that still showed in the air.

Consequences towards other countries

Civil War conflicts had already met throughout Europe and many countries saw this war as a conflict between religion and atheism, progress and fascism.

These countries: USSR, Germany and Italy saw the opportunity to help the Francoist side, but they also saw this with a little malice because their main objective was not to help Franco but what they wanted was to try new aerial strategies and cars ofcombat. On the other hand, for countries such as: Great Britain and France, they thought that the conflict could represent a great threat to the balance of European forces, which they tried to maintain until in 1939 (as soon as the civil war ended) with the beginning of the secondWorld War, but what was the purpose of wanting to maintain pressure in southern Europe was the alliance between Germany and the USSR.

In what we talk about foreign policy, the civil war caused a great withdrawal of all ambassadors (much), which in the end a few countries kept the ambassadors from the end of World War II to the Cold War. When the 50s relations between the countries arrive thanks to the help of and.AND.OR.U communication with the rest of the countries is already almost normal (except with the Soviet block).

CONCLUSION

This work has turned out of great help to better understand a person who was in that situation, who had no job and cost him to reach the end of the month, and in a way he has made me appreciate the luck I have and to appreciate itIn which I am, since I would have not liked to live in those times and that it would probably cost me to live, since people died for their political thinking or religion and knowing that it was most likely that someone close to myI would have died for these causes, it would make me even more diffuse and also that I would be dead or homeless given to the bombs. Another great reason why I decided to do this work was for the current consequences that I leave this issue in 2019, having spent more than 50 years and remains a topic that generates a lot of controversy as the issue of exhuming Franco and asI have already said many times in this work the most marked separation between rights and left. But I feel very good with this work since it is an issue that as it has so many points of view of where to catch it is very funny the mere fact of learning things exploring in a book or looking on web pages. I also have to say that when I started this work comes with a thought on this subject and I have left with a much more realistic and better, in fact I criticize in the introduction the mentality that I had before starting.
