Introduction
Andy Warhol is perhaps the most recognized artist of pop art during the S. XX. His popularity made an outstanding figure in the world of art worldwide very quickly. His real name was Andrew Warhola. He was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. UU. In addition to plastic artist, Warhol also dedicated himself to cinema. He is considered an initiator and main exponent of the Pop Art Movement of the 1960s. His mass pieces produced in mass pointed out the supposed banality of the United States commercial culture.

Andy Warhol, Life and Legacy. He was the son of Russian immigrants, of what is now the east of Slovakia. Warhol graduated in 1949 at the Carnegie Technology Institute (now University of Carnegie Mellon), Pittsburgh, with a bachelor’s degree in Pictorial Design. Then he went to New York City, where he worked as a commercial illustrator for approximately a decade.
Warhol began painting in the late 1950s and received sudden notoriety in 1962. At that time he exhibited paintings from the Campbell soups, coca-cool bottles and wooden groove replicas of brightness boxes. In 1963, these deliberately banal images of consumer goods through photographic prisons were producing in mass. Shortly after, he began to print infinite variations of celebrity portraits in striking colors.
The screen printing technique was ideal for Warhol, since the repeated image was reduced to an insipid and dehumanized cultural icon. This icon reflected both the assumption of American material culture and the artist’s non-emotional participation in the practice of his art. Warhol’s work placed him at the forefront of the emerging pop art movement in the United States. He died on February 22, 1987 in New York, New York.
Andy’s time capsules
From 1974, Andy Warhol filled 610 boxes with their personal belongings, sealed them and sent them to the warehouse. In doing so, he created a vast collection of time capsules.
The project is considered a work art work. When the Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh began to exhum and carefully catalog their contents, they discovered that the boxes contained everyday and ephemeral objects. Warhol time capsules contain newspaper items, junk mail, half -eaten sandwiches and feet nail cuts. They also contain photographs of origin for projects, letters for commissions and even some other work of art not sold.
The Andy Warhol Foundation hired a team of archivists, to review everything, from taxi receipts to fans emails. The archivists had to catalog all the objects meticulously, photograph and investigate the articles often strangers before entering a database.
What the capsules mean
The packaging of objects extracted from the surface of everyday life became the warp and the plot of this artist’s creative work. The capsules are a joke, a joke on the culture of the West.
The artist perpetuated until after his death what he used to affirm in life: I can simply be an artist without doing any art: I am art. Time capsules are essentially about death.
