Analysis of a fragment of the Panfleto ‘Rights of Man’ by Thomas Paine
This text is a fragment of the Panfleto ’Rights of Man’, written by Thomas Paine in 1792 and translated into Spanish by Santiago Felipe Puglia in 1821. It would be classified as a primary or historical text, as the pamphlet was written in 1791, and Paine wrote the article in 1792, politician, written by the politician, philosopher and radical revolutionary Thomas Paine and is addressed to everyone.
To take the main ideas, we will focus on the translated and summary version of Felipe Puglia. There are a number of main ideas that revolve around the same subject and, therefore, almost all of them have the same sense. The first paragraph is composed of a main and secondary idea, which supports it, which is summarized in the fact that the governments that exist have had a principle in which any type of sacred or moral law have violated;The idea says that the old governments that are still present, are equally unfair as in their origins.
The second paragraph is also composed of a main and secondary idea: in the principles of civilization, men were taking care of their herds and harvests. Without any law or authority that protected them, they were subjected to flocks of herds in their territories. That lack of authoritarian figure allows to consolidate this type of actions, so that the head of the thieves cost little, exercising their violence, changing its denomination of thief to King’s.
The third paragraph is a main idea, summarized as governments are unfairly formed, and there is no way to reform them or make another new and improved government.
The fourth paragraph has a main idea in the last sentence, which says that governments take advantage of wars and their own nation.
The last paragraph is composed of two main ideas and a secondary idea that supports the second main. The summary that can be carried out from this paragraph is that despite the fact that in a government there are peaceful activities (trade, agriculture …), it always manages to undo the principles of these works.
In conclusion, it can be said that the pamphlet of ’Rights of Man’ really spoke that every state has to self-govern (Republican) and that there are kings is not human, since they fight for private interests.
